I don't usually use my blog to tell personal likes and dislikes. I mainly use it to document moments in the lives of my children, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to tell you about this book: Faithful God by Sinclair Ferguson.
It is a short (only 157 pages) and truly rich read on the book of Ruth in the Bible. It is full of life changing biblical principles that we should be reminded of as believers. I have found it particularly encouraging to remember God's providencial loving-kindness in my life: by bringing me to Himself and continuing His good work in and through me inspite of myself. Even in my children and their vastly different personalities the Lord is showing me how He cares about every detail. He has hand picked each child to be in my care and HE is weaving a beautiful tapestry together, even if all I see right now are the stray strings underneath.
It's given me practical tools to be confident in the midst of life's circumstances. Something I've been convicted of lately was put into just the right question by my Bible study leader today. "Are you undone by your circumstances?" YES! But what opportunities I have to be a witness to my children, husband and those around me..."Those who look to the LORD are radiant." Oh, that the Lord would make me "grace under fire" and that He would help me see through His eyes. Trusting and walking faithfully even when I can't understand why and instead of becoming frustrated through life's happenings...after all, everything is orchestrated under His watchful care to bring Himself the most glory.
I pray I'll become more like Ruth and my man and boys will grow to be men more like Boaz! You will too after you read this enlightening, beautifully crafted book.
